#natsume yuujinchou #jesus christ #that moment when you realize that natsume yuujinchou could have been the most depressing and bleak show about death and mortality #but instead it used that sadness to become a hopeful and yearning show about love and kindness and the idea that no one is unloved or alone #shit #i just thought of how this series might end #with takashi dying a peaceful death #well into his old age #with all the youkai that had been touched by him #like nyanko-sensei and hinoe and benio and misuzu and kogitsune and kai #and all the other youkai whose lives he touched #they book of friends would be completely empty #but they would stay by his side anyway #it wouldn't be because of some silly thing like obligation #it would be because they love him #and that's what friends /do/ #sobbing #i don't want to think about this anymore #edit: hmm it's never explicitly stated that sasada lost her mom; we know she has a lot of family problems and she has a step-dad and she ... #really treasures the charm her mother gave her so i'm only guessing #her mom could just be emotionally distant or doesn't show her love frequently #i've always assumed that she had died #but still #/something's/ going on between her and her mother
